The SNBVE is a new identification standard for virtual environments. It was created based on the ISBN standard, which is probably one of the most well-known standards in the world - the familiar 13-digit number printed on the back of a book, perhaps even represented as a barcode, is a familiar sight to many.
It is hoped that the SNBVE, like the ISBN, will be widely adopted so that virtual publishing simulations can be fun, organized and parameterized, just like in real life.
As a single standard, it is very important that there are clearly established lines of responsibility and governance. The various levels of responsibility help to make the SNBVE system robust and also to instill confidence in its use.
